Africa’s history is not a story of men alone. Queens, queen-mothers, warriors and activists shaped every era of the continent — and this collection gathers their stories, each tagged by region and linked to the deeper pages where they live.
Real photographs of the women — where they exist. Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, Wangari Maathai and the Agojie are shown in genuine historical photographs. Where no authentic image survives — as with Queen Nzinga or Queen Amina — we show none, rather than invent one.
